Fairies at the bottom of the garden

Gotta love a long weekend..we had an action packed one and I'm a little sad it's over. Here's a few pics from a fairy party that Maisie attended.

Peggy

I am so over the childcare thing and she hasn't even officially started. Maisie is being the delightful drama queen that we know and love, and floods tears of despair as soon as I leave the nursery. Her carers have suggested I come every day next week to get her used to the place. This absolutely makes sense, but I've already taken her there 6 times and I still haven't left the building!! Ahhh, I think she'll enjoy the place once she gets used to me leaving, but at this rate, they'll need to put me on staff....Her second little peg broke the gum this morning, so I can forgive her for her grumpiness yesterday. Have a good weekend y'all, I'm looking forward to mine..food, drink, friends and nana naps.

Purging the days away

The pretty little menace caught pulling books off the shelf, then kicking back on the couch.
The weather was gorgeous on the weekend and I wasted most of it wishing the days would end. I woke up at 2am Saturday morning sick..literal Exorcist-style sick, and this horror-show purge continued unabated for the next hideous 12 hours. Thanks to my husband for going above and beyond with cleaning duties and for looking after the rascal so I could recover. Blagh...the idea of food still makes me squirm.

So, I've been meaning to suggest some places if you're in the mood for a day trip. I'd suggest scooting down to Flinders which has some great tucker and treats. Curio and Curio which was recently opened by Nick Young and his partner Clair (who is a stylist for Real Living mag) is a very cute place. Nick's name has come up a bit lately, with features in Home Beautiful, Real Living and the Design Files. I like hearing about people who kickstart a new career despite a lack of experience in their new chosen path. Also in Flinders, you can get the most beautiful coloured German pencils and some lovely clothes at Flinders Shed. The pencils are cheaper than the clothes, so I'll pick some up next time to share with you...I just need to learn how to draw...

A spot of shopping

So I did end up going to the Magnolia Square market and bought a few bits and bobs. Maisie scored a couple of tops from Emma's bargain bin at the Knuffle Kid stall and I also picked up some gifts for others. As usual, Christmas is dangerously close and I really need to start thinking about presents. The idea of shopping makes me nauseous, so I'm determined to get as much as I can online this year. If you know of any great online shopping sites, please send them my way....my only fear is it will start an obsession, I love those packages arriving in the mail...good thing the bank is taking its time with my replacement card. (pics of the new purchases and the little monkey with her dad)

Two little monkeys

Maisie had a grand time on the weekend hanging out with lots of little people. First with little Mia (pictured) for a Saturday breakkie and then her cousin and scores of second and third cousins at her nana's birthday party. We're still making our way through the leftover birthday cake...yummo.

Bon appetit

Over the weekend, Maisie had her first sample of real food, well if you can call rice cereal 'real' food. She wasn't particularly impressed with the feast on offer, but is slowly learning the art of gummy chewing. I suspect her skills will vastly improve once we give her a flavour worth working for... We also visited the Red Hill market, which due to the replay grand final was mercifully quiet. It's such a great market, Maisie scored a new sunhat, a pair of pants and a little bib and I had the most fun of our entourage with the energetic Mitchell in the animal petting enclosure. So cute. Oh yes and there was that sunny Sunday walk along the beach and the lovely dinner at David and Susan's that we had to prematurely abandon due to a screaming baby (ahem.)...I love weekends (aside from the screaming baby bit)..

Sweet tooth

I used to adore savoury food and would order a cheese platter over dessert any day of the week. But, while I was pregnant, I developed a real craving for sweet food that I'm still unable to shake!! We had a great weekend away in Torquay, but despite eating almost a whole Lindt white chocolate bar, I'm still craving a chocolate fix. Good thing Anzac biscuits are so easy to make...

Party girl

We had a really busy weekend, running from one social engagement to the next. Maisie was extremely well behaved until we arrived at our final destination - a 2-year-old's birthday party in the park. M screamed the whole time and we were forced take turns in walking the pram away from all the well behaved children. Here's a cute pic of the birthday girl who spent most of her time tearing around the park on her bike.

Winter weekend

It was the perfect Winter weather for a weekend away, so we packed up the car and spent a couple of days at The White House in Daylesford. This old miner's cottage has undergone a snazzy revamp by Lyn Gardener and was a gorgeous cosy place to spend a couple of days. Maisie has an obsession with staring at lamps and lights, so she was in heaven...
